This Year 1 'Let's Learn Number Bonds!' scheme of work is a great way to introduce your class to number bonds to five and ten and get them to apply their knowledge of number facts. How can we make five?

The first lesson in this series focuses on encouraging your class to find lots of different ways to make five using objects and to write what they did as a number sentence. How can we make ten?

The second lesson in this series gives your class the opportunity to become confident with applying number facts and using objects and pictures to prove their answers. Through hands-on activities your class will match, create, find and make all of the number bonds to ten. The alternative activity for this lesson challenges the children to create a number bond to ten poster to display in the classroom.
