Seas and Coasts

Visit oceans, seas, continents and countries in this Seas and Coasts scheme of work for Year 1 and 2. Your class will find out about different human and physical features of our seas and coasts. They will also learn about jobs and resources that are linked to the sea.

Lesson 1

Identifying Oceans and Continents

The first lesson in this six-lesson scheme of work challenges your class to locate and name the five oceans and seven continents of the world. Your class will also be introduced to the terms oceans, seas, coasts, continents and countries as they work out where in the world characters have visited.

Comparing British and World Beaches

The penultimate lesson in this KS1 geography scheme of work encourages your class look closely at photos of different beaches. They will identify features and use this knowledge to decide if the beaches are British or not. They will be challenged to say which beach they would prefer to visit and explain why, taking into account the temperature in each location.
